Olbia, Sardinia, more than a seaport

Olbia is the main town of the Gallura Region in Sardinia Island Italy. The origin of the city took place at the time of Punics colonization. The Olbia region is a land with a lot of history, in terms of archaeological and historical remnants. Nuraghi and Giant’s tombs are numerous here and they seem to belong to a mysterious community. Not far from the coast of Olbia we find the Maddalena island, known for its wonderful beaches and places like for exemple the Budelli beach. We are talking about the famous Costa Smeralda. his part of the region with its islands is considered as a National Park.

Carnival in French Riviera, Nice

In many countries, Carnival is an occasion for big festivities. In France, the best place to spend the Carnival is in the French Riviera,in Nice.

Spectacular shows take place every day or evening on the streets of thecity, where people from all around the world come to follow the event. A very particular parade during the Nice Carnival is the "Battle of flowers", where 20 floats decorated by thousands of flowers, pass through the "Promenade des Anglais". Costumed men and women dance on samba or jazz rhythms and throw flowers to the crowd. The parade is

repeated several times during the Carnival and is a not-to-miss even. As many tourists visit the city in this period, to ensure a better view on the parade places should be reserved in advance. Also, if you plan is not the only reason to visit Nice in February. The wonderful medit to stay in a hotel in Nice, the best would be to book in advance. The Carnival, mediterranean climate and the raphinated cuisine makes it one of the most desirable tourist destinations.

Este’s lands

Ferrara is not only the Castello Estense, the historic buildings that host impact exhibitions, or the magnificent cathedral, the concerts, the mouth-watering menu. Ferrara is also its beaches, the countryside that surrounds it, the suburbs, the salt. This area has to be discovered and can surprise even the most demanding palates.

Venice

The first time I went to Venice, in the early ’30, I stayed in a pensione, the Seguso, because I didn’t have enough money for a hotel. I arrived late at night, around 11 o’clock. My room looked right out onto the lagoon. I woke up the next morning the bell ringing from Redentore Church and a procession led by the archbishop over a bridge that had been made across the Giudecca Canal. That was my first in Venice – the robes, the priests. I remember the two women who owned the pensione. Their husband had gambled and lost it, but the people gave it back to the women because they didn’t approve of the men.

Spain

Spain is one of the world’s most popular places for its beautiful beaches, exciting events and festivals. This city is a treasure chest for its unforgettable scenery.
A two-day celebration of Fiesta of Saint Antoni will be held from January 16, 2009 to January 17, 2009. This commemorates the farm animals’ patron saint. The fiesta of Saint Antoni is a colorful and fun event where participants are dressed up with animal costumes and parade throughout the town. At the city square, a fire will be lit at night that is used to defend against evil spirits. Mostly there are a lot of drinks and food for sale and the participants will sing classical songs in honor of the saint while presenting dances all around the fire.
The Tamborrada de San Sebastian is one of the renowned festivals in Spain. This is a march to the noisy drums sounds, as the drummers parade all through the entire city at night. This will be celebrated from January 19, 2009 to January 20, 2009.
From February 1, 2009 to March 31, 2009 will be the celebration of the International Flamenco Festival to be held at Jerez de la Frontera, Spain. This festival is the period for Flamenco concerts, which will be conducted in Villamarta Theater where people will be given an opportunity to join in the Flamenco workshops and master classes. The best practitioners the world over will visit the momentous city of Jerez to present at the theater. A number of art exhibitions and cultural events will run throughout the city’s festival.

Sharm el-Sheikh

Sharm el-Sheikh (or only Sharm) is situated in the southern part of the Sinai Peninsula, on the shore of the Red Sea, at the mouth of the Gulf of Aqaba. It used to be just a fishing village 50 years ago. Sharm el-Sheik is in Egypt, but it has been captured twice by Israel. The first time was in 1956th during the Sinai conflict (the next year it is restored to Egypt) and the second – in 1967th during the Six-Day War. This time Sharm stayed under Israeli control until 1982nd. Then the Sinai Peninsula is returned to Egypt due to the Israel-Egypt Peace Treaty from 1979th.
That second period under Israeli control is the time, when Sharm started being developed. In 1970th an Israeli settlement has been created near the fishing village and opened the first tourist-orientated establishments 6 km away from Sharm el-Sheikh. After Sinai is restored to Egypt the Egyptian government encourages the development of the city. Foreign investors, already discovered the potential of the area, contributed to the building projects.
Due to its strategic location Sharm has become a major port and a naval base and it has hosted a number of Middle Eastern peace conferences. Anyway, its main industry is tourism. The strict environment law successfully protects the natural look of the clean sand-beaches and the crystal water. Because of the clear water and calm climate Sharm el-Sheikh has become popular for the large number of watersports that can be practiced there. Sharm is nowadays a whole-year tourist resort with beautiful nature and modern infrastructure, including 3-to-5 star hotels, the second biggest airport in Egypt (after the one in Cairo), cruise ships and ferry service. There are also mall shopping centers and worldwide franchises like Hard Rock Cafe, McDonald’s and KFC

Alexandria

Tourism can be divided into two main directions. The first one is related to spending one’s holiday on a nice place to relax and have some fun – a sea or a mountain resort. The second is related to sightseeing – visiting places famous for some event, or some unique monument or a place with historical significance. And, of course, it’s best when these two things are combined in one place. Such place is the city of Alexandria.
It is found in 331st BC by Alexander the Great by the shore of the Mediterranean Sea and still carries the name of its founder. Alexandria was the capitol of Egypt for almost thousand years and was among the most famous cities in the world. At the island of Pharos, right off the shore, the Lighthouse of Alexandria was raised – one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world and the one that survived the longest. The Lighthouse was torn down by two earthquakes in the beginning of 14th century.
Very little has survived from the ancient times until now, but there are still some magnificent monuments like Pompey’s Pillar, situated in the Alexandria’s ancient acropolis, the Alexandria’s Catacombs – a multi-level labyrinth and the Roman amphitheatre.
Modern Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt, its population counts more than 4 millions of people. It is the largest seaport at the region and is also a tourist resort. Hotels for all price brackets are available in the city. Alexandria can offer its guests all the luxuries of the big city, hot days at the beach and a humble look at its glorious past.
